around the world! The effects of any war are widespread and have long-term implications. It is the civilian population that bears the brunt of the attacks, almost always. No country wants millions of displaced people from war-torn nations to flood their borders. Besides the dangers posed to the civilian population, the economy of the country could also suffer overwhelming effects. Nevertheless, the race to develop and stockpile weapons of mass destruction continues to give nations that can afford them a stature that their other less-endowed contemporaries are wary about.
With countries capable of decimating their opponents with a

mere push of a button, the situation is terrifying. Yet, wars are a fact of life in many parts of the world that have been mired in conflict for decades. The interference of superpowers in the internal matters of third world countries has only complicated matters. With some armed aggressions initiated by the need to prove a point, the world has indeed become a dangerous place. If only all crises could be resolved through peaceful means!
It is as if the doomsday predictions have begun to assume a ring of truth. Is the world heading towards total annihilation? Are the Covid pandemic and the invasion of Ukraine by Russia just the tip of the iceberg of catastrophe?
